School plays an important role in shaping one’s life. It transforms a mere individual into a educated, socialized, literate & disciplined human being. Census 2001 defined literacy in a very simple and nice way. According to it, when we ask who is a literate individual, it defines it as, “An individual of seven years who can read, write and understand any language is called a literate.”
In our country the process of learning is in some way formalised or institutionalised. To be called an educated person, one needs to be declared formally as educated by an Institution. To achieve this, one has to attend school, answer tests and examination meant to evaluate the periodical development of individual’s intelligence level. Education therefore is impossible without attending institutions such as school.
No doubt education is the main parameter of measuring the intelligence level of an individual; but we should keep in mind one thing is that, certificates issued by the institution are not suffice to judge the overall development of individual but we should evaluate the actual skill possessed by him/her as well as the actual development of its intellectual level by giving practical work and mental ability work.
Education is referred as an investment in human capital. It gives a clear message that the process of acquiring skill and knowledge through education was not to be viewed as mere consumptions, but rather as a productive investment, which would not only increase individual productivity but also lay the base for rapid economic growth. In simple words the economic growth of any nation depends on the educational development of that nation’s, both quantitative and qualitative.
As a part of investment in education, today I feel proud to announce that we are launching a website for the association which will be of great help to the member schools of association.
South Goa High School Association is a registered examination body established in the year1996 with an objective to conduct a common examination for the students of all the schools in South Goa.
At the beginning we have very few schools as its members. It is said that “The beginning of everything is small. It grows as the time passes.” A river starts with a small spring and every next drop makes it into a mighty ocean.
